MBTI is a personality profiling test which classifies people into a total of 16 personality types, based on a 10 minute questionnaire. Each personality type has a characteristic behaviour, and the objective of the profiling is to appreciate the similarities and differences among them.

ESFPs, also called the Entertainers or Performers, are the most enthusiastic and vivacious of all personality types. Life can never be boring around these happy-go-lucky people!

1. The most striking and remarkable quality of ESFPs is that they love entertaining and engaging other people. They have a terrific sense of humor, and take great pleasure in making people laugh. Their presence raises the fun quotient of the whole room.

“I never want to be boring, so therefore I aspire to always be interesting, experimental and entertaining.”- Katy Perry (ESFP)

2. ESFPs thrive on spontaneity, and like to live in the present moment. Try binding them to a schedule or dictating them strict rules, and they’ll give you such a nasty look that it’ll remind you of Fred and George in front of Umbridge.

“‘What do we want to be Prefects for?’ said George, looking revolted at the very idea. ‘It’d take all the fun out of life.’”- George Weasley, Harry Potter Series (ESFP)

3. Sometimes people assume them to be shallow and materialistic, but they could not be more wrong. ESFPs genuinely care about people, and never hesitate to help the people who in need. A good example is that of Rachel Green of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, who is also an ESFP. The first impression that she made was totally different from her true persona, which unfolded as the series progressed, and we witnessed the depths of this chirpy, friendly and sensitive girl.

“It’s like all my life, everyone has always told me: You’re a shoe.”- Rachel Green, F.R.I.E.N.D.S (ESFP)

4. They are consummate attention seekers, who love being at the centre of the stage. And of course, there is no other type more suitable for the limelight than them. They shine and shimmer in the spotlight with an exceptional confidence.

“I was always the kid in school who tried to get attention. … I’d do little unexpected performances.”- Leonardo DiCaprio (ESFP)

5. The popular belief surrounding ESFPs that they are ‘All-play-and-no-work’ people is just as wrong as calling Donald Trump a person of high scientific temperament. There are people of all levels of intelligence in all personality types, and a lot of ESFPs excel in their chosen fields of interests.

“ I’ve always thought Fred and I should’ve gotten E (Exceeds Expectations) in everything, because we exceeded expectations just by turning up for the exams.”- George Weasley, Harry Potter Series (ESFP)

6. ESFPs are keen observants. They have a great eye for beauty, and a great taste in aesthetics. Most ESFPs know how to carry themselves well in public. Fashion industry is brimming with talented ESFPs. But people of this type are also prone to over dependence on luxurious lifestyle.

“If you can’t handle me at my worst, then you surely don’t deserve me at my best.” — Marilyn Monroe (ESFP)

7. Perfect life for ESFP people is a cup of coffee, the company of dear friends and the endless chat that ensues. They are people-persons, and gossiping is their happy way of connecting with others.

“Well, I’m a people person. People like me. Some of my favourite people are people.”- Penny, The Big Bang Theory (ESFP)
